POM Inspection

Inspection plans & measurements

Inspection by plan: characteristics and tolerances, measured values on the order, blocking and scrap – the proof is created as you inspect.

  1. 01

    The problem

The QA step is ticked off. What was checked, with which gauge and with what result is on a sheet of paper – and blocked goods are recognised because someone happens to know.

  2. 02

    How POM solves it

Inspection plans define what to check per article and work step – versioned, so earlier records stay valid. For dimensional characteristics POM rates the measured value against the tolerance. A quality block stops the order at completion. Calibration records, defect reasons and the supplier master belong to POM Core.

  3. 03

    The result

Every inspection is on record: who, when, with which gauge, with what result. In the audit, records are on the table instead of recollections.

Functions

What is inside.

  • Versioned inspection plans – per article, per work step or as a house plan

  • Characteristics with target value and tolerance – POM rates the measurement

  • Records with inspector, gauge and quantities for good, rework and scrap

  • Records cannot be changed – corrections only as a replacement with a reason

  • Block at completion, with POM Shipping at dispatch too; it does not apply to customer pick-up

  • Overdue gauge calibration is noted on the record

  • Key figures with POM Analytics: inspection rate, inspection scrap, rework and pass rates

Quick answers

Questions about POM Inspection

What is an inspection plan?

An inspection plan defines what to check on an article or in a work step: characteristics with target value and tolerance, the gauge and an instruction, for example on sampling. In POM Inspection, inspection plans are versioned so that earlier records stay valid. For dimensional characteristics POM rates the measured value against the tolerance from the plan; one-sided limits such as a minimum force are possible.

How does POM Inspection stop blocked goods?

Through the quality block: an open block stops the order at completion, and with POM Shipping at dispatch too. The shop floor keeps working; only what leaves is stopped. Blocking and releasing are separate permissions. Together with POM Warenwirtschaft this also covers purchased goods: if an article has an inspection plan assigned for goods receipt, the delivery goes into blocked stock until the inspection releases it.

Can I correct a wrong measurement afterwards?

Yes, but not by overwriting it. Inspection records cannot be changed; a correction is a replacement record that requires a reason. The original record stays visible, and only the valid one counts. In the audit it is clear who inspected, when, with which gauge, and what was corrected later – a record that could be rewritten would be no proof at all.

Do I have to create a separate inspection plan for every article?

No. A plan applies per article, per work step or as a house plan for everything; POM uses the most specific one: article and step, then article, then step, then house plan. If no plan is assigned, no inspection is intended and POM works as before. So you can start with a plan for one work step, such as final inspection, and add article plans where customers require them.
