One vehicle, one file.
A special vehicle is a project lasting months: body, electrics, hydraulics, paint, acceptance – often hundreds of operations across several trades. In POM the vehicle is an order with its own order type and workflow; the order overview shows how far along it is. On the planning board you plan the operations across weeks and employees, and with POM Shop Floor Data hours are booked against the order at the terminal.
Changes during the build are normal: an extra storage compartment, different lighting, a postponed acceptance date. Questions hang on the order as messages, and follow-up work becomes a task with an owner and a deadline. For recurring cases such as a change request, you define a form with steps and deadlines. Messages are never edited and never deleted.
At hand-over the customer wants to see records, not recollections. POM Traceability shows which batches and serial numbers are in the vehicle; the evidence package comes with an issue log. POM Quality records inspections per process step, such as final acceptance. The bookings show who worked on which operation.
With a special vehicle, the original estimate is rarely the final bill. POM Costing works with versions; if the scope changes, a new version is created instead of overwriting the released one. Post-calculation sets plan against actual – and the next similar vehicle is calculated with reality.

How a build runs through POM.

Order with workflow
The order gets an order type with the stages of the build, such as frame, electrics, hydraulics and acceptance. The order overview shows the status.

Planning over months
On the planning board the operations are spread across weeks and employees. Approved leave reduces the capacity of those affected.

Hours at the terminal
Fitters scan order and personnel number and book against the operation with start and stop. The evaluation shows how many hours the build has taken.

Changes on the order
Questions and change requests stay on the order as messages, follow-up work as tasks with a deadline. If the scope changes, the costing gets a new version.

Acceptance and hand-over

How do I record customer changes during the build?
On the order itself: questions are messages linked to the order, and implementing the change becomes a task with an owner and a deadline. Recurring details are captured with a form of your own. All of this is part of the core.
What can I prove from POM at hand-over?
POM Traceability shows which batches and serial numbers are in the vehicle. Inspections are recorded in POM Quality and cannot be changed. The bookings from POM Shop Floor Data show who worked on which operation.
How does costing stay current on orders that run for months?
By booking instead of estimating. With POM Shop Floor Data the hours land on the operation, and post-calculation in POM Costing sets them against the plan. If the customer changes the scope, a new version is created; the released one is kept.
Can we start with a few modules and extend later?
Yes. POM Core is in every licence; modules such as POM Shop Floor Data or POM Traceability are added when you need them. Modules are activated, not installed – without reinstalling and without a restart. If a module is removed later, the data is kept.
How do I keep track of several vehicles in build at once?
The order overview shows every vehicle with colour logic for overdue, blocked and locked. “Today” shows each person what is due for them. On the planning board, bottlenecks become visible when several vehicles share the same employees.
