In aerospace-adjacent manufacturing, customers want proof of who made and inspected a part – with which qualification, which material and according to which inspection plan. POM is not a pile of forms next to production: the records are created by the work itself, when booking at the terminal, inspecting and releasing. What is recorded stays on your server, not in someone else’s cloud – a requirement for many customers.
POM Quality keeps qualifications in the skills matrix: ability and difficulty levels per employee and work step, with instruction and expiry date if you wish. Because every booking in POM BDE carries the personnel number, you can say for every operation who carried it out. Next to it, the matrix shows at which level that person masters the step.
First-article documentation is often required by contract. POM Quality releases a first article only with a stored proof document; until then, series production stays blocked. POM Inspection works with versioned inspection plans, so that earlier records stay valid, and rates dimensional characteristics against the tolerance. Records cannot be overwritten – corrections are only made by a replacement with a reason, and the original record stays visible. POM Analytics shows how often first articles are rejected.
Traceability is expected end to end. POM Traceability follows batches from goods receipt through production to shipment, forwards and backwards; you set the batch tracking requirement per article, and with POM BDE the server then accepts no booking without a batch number. POM does not keep serial numbers of manufactured parts – that belongs to an honest answer on end-to-end traceability. POM Complaints keeps complaints as records with cause, actions and history per customer and article.

How the proof builds up in POM.

Qualification before assignment
The skills matrix records who masters which work step at which level, with instruction and expiry date if you wish. Planning takes the matrix into account when it suggests employees for an order.

Material with batch tracking
For articles with batch tracking, the batch is mandatory – at goods receipt and as a required field at the terminal. An incoming inspection by plan keeps the delivery in blocked stock until release.

Inspection and first article
Inspection follows the plan, and every inspection becomes a record with inspector and gauge. POM releases the first article only with a stored proof document, which is kept on the server and backed up.

Series with bookings
At the terminal every employee books against the operation with their personnel number. For every step it is then clear who carried it out, at which workstation and with which batch.

Proof and key figures
The material record shows the batches of an order, the gap report where the chain is not closed. Complaints become records with cause and actions; POM Analytics shows inspection rate and first-article rejection rate.

Does POM replace our quality management system?
No. POM is software for planning, production and records, not a quality management system in the sense of a standard. It provides records an audit can rely on: qualifications with instruction and expiry date, first-article releases with proof, inspection records that cannot be changed and batches from goods receipt to shipment. Procedures, responsibilities and your company’s certification remain with you.
Can POM trace serial numbers of manufactured parts?
No. POM Traceability works with batches: from goods receipt with supplier and manufacturer batch, through production to shipment, forwards and backwards. Serial numbers of manufactured parts are not part of its scope. Whether batches cover your contractual documentation duties is best clarified with your customer – and checked in the 30-day trial with every module, without a contract.
Where are our order and inspection data stored?
On your own server. POM runs on-premise as a Windows application; all workstations use one database in your network, and WEKAS does not sit in the operational data path. Roles and permissions are enforced on the server. POM verifies the licence locally against a digital signature – without internet access and without a licence server.
How do I inspect purchased parts before they are used?
With POM Inspection and POM Warenwirtschaft. If you assign an inspection plan for goods receipt to the article, every delivery goes into blocked stock until the inspection releases it. The record keeps inspector, gauge and quantities. With POM Traceability every batch carries supplier and manufacturer batch from goods receipt, so you can show later where the material came from.
Which quality key figures does POM provide?
POM Analytics together with POM Quality and POM Inspection provides the first-article rejection rate, plus inspection rate, inspection scrap, rework and pass rates. The calculation runs on the data that bookings and inspections create anyway. The analyses can be exported as CSV or Excel; viewing and exporting are separate permissions.
