Single units and small series
When every order is a project.
In machine building, one order rarely resembles the last. A special-purpose machine passes through mechanics, electrics, assembly and testing, often over months and several departments. In POM, an order type of its own with a workflow maps these stages, and the order overview shows the status. When a process moves to another department, a task is created with an owner and a deadline; questions hang on the order as messages.
Purchased parts often set the pace: a gearbox, a controller, a drive with weeks of lead time. In POM Warenwirtschaft, request for quotation, purchase order and goods receipt run in the same system as the order; the supplier’s order confirmation is checked for deviations. Missing material blocks the order until it arrives. If an operation goes out of house, POM Subcontracting handles material provision, return delivery and material balance.
Time is booked where the work happens: at the POM Shop Floor Data terminal, fitters and electricians scan order and personnel number, and every booking lands on the operation. POM Machines & Maintenance keeps machines, fixtures and gauges with maintenance and calibration; anything due appears in planning, at the terminal and in “Today”.
POM Costing shows whether the quote carried the project as soon as the hours are booked: post-calculation sets plan against actual. From five feedback records POM suggests new target times – they are adopted only after confirmation.

The costing scheme calculates material, labour, machine rates and surcharges; scenarios put variants side by side. The released costing flows into the quote.

Order proposal, purchase order and goods receipt run in the same system. From December 2026, operations done out of house go to the supplier with a provision note.

Planning across trades
On the planning board you distribute mechanics, electrics, assembly and testing across employees. Approved leave reduces capacity, and due maintenance is visible.

Is POM suitable for one-off production with long lead times?
Yes, if you run the order as a sequence of operations. An order type of its own with a workflow defines the stages; on the planning board you plan them across weeks and employees. The order overview shows the status at any time.
We ship machines abroad – what does POM handle in export?
POM Shipping detects domestic, EU or non-EU and creates commercial invoice, pro forma and packing list. POM Customs & Foreign Trade adds export control, preference and origin and the export process; sanctions screening comes from December 2026. POM does not create the official export declaration.
How do I find out whether an order made money?
With POM Costing and POM Shop Floor Data. Costing sets times and costs in advance, employees book their hours against the operations at the terminal, and post-calculation compares the two – with costing reliability shown in five criteria.
Does POM connect our machines directly?
No, a real machine connection does not exist today. Employees capture times and quantities with POM Shop Floor Data. From December 2026 you plan machines per operation.
How do purchasing and assembly coordinate in POM?
Through messages on the order and tasks with an owner and a deadline. When a process moves to another department, the task is created automatically, and the sender sees who has it and since when. This is part of the core.
