Why POM knows cable assembly.
POM was created at Powertune Spezialkabelsysteme GmbH & Co. KG – a cable assembly company with more than 150 employees. A harness there consists of wires, terminals, seals, conduits and labels; every item has its own lead time, every customer their own variants and drawing revisions.
Today POM carries cable assembly from quote to invoice: bills of materials with unchangeable revisions, the planning board with staff suggestions by qualification, feedback at the terminal with POM Shop Floor Data, inspection plans with POM Quality, and batches and serial numbers with POM Traceability. POM Piecework Pay settles piecework and homework from the same employee master.
In many companies, the knowledge of how a terminal is crimped onto a wire lives in heads and binders. That is what POM MES Cable Assembly is being built for: catalogues for wires, terminals, seals, tools and crimp standards, machines with capabilities and a control station with set-up-optimised sequencing. It is in development and expected in January 2027; customer pilots start from the first quarter of 2027.

How an order runs through POM.

Enquiry and quote
The enquiry gets an owner and a deadline, costing provides the price with its derivation, and the quote is created from it.
- 02
Order and material
The order confirmation checks bill of materials, routing and material date and creates the production orders. Missing material blocks the order until it arrives.
- 03
Planning
On the planning board you distribute the operations across employees; staff suggestions take qualification into account.
- 04
Production and proof
At the terminal, work is started, stopped and quantities are reported; the batch scan writes into traceability. Inspection plans record measured values that cannot be changed.

Pay, shipping and invoice
Piecework and homework flow into the monthly list, shipping prints the label, and the invoice goes out as a checked XRechnung.

You import master data and bills of materials from Excel or CSV, with a trial run. Open quotes, order confirmations and purchase orders can be taken over at a cut-off date; a second run creates no duplicates.
