Types of inspection

Not only whether something is there – but whether it is right.

VIC checks presence and completeness, but equally position, alignment and geometric features within defined tolerances.

Presence

Check whether a required part or feature is there: connector, screw, clip, seal, fastener, label, cover, protective component.

Completeness

Check whether an assembly has been mounted completely – are all intended components present?

Position

Check whether a part sits within the intended position or tolerance.

Orientation

Check the correct alignment: rotated, mirrored, wrongly inserted, wrong installation position.

Geometry

Contours, distances, angles, positions, diameters, lengths, widths, form features, tolerance ranges.

Seals and sealing elements

Present, correctly positioned, in the right place.

Assembly state

Evaluate whether components have been mounted as intended.

Marking

Check whether labels and markings are present and correctly positioned.

    Capture

    The product is positioned in the defined inspection area, the camera takes the image.

    Inspect

    VIC loads the inspection program for this article and evaluates the defined characteristics.

    Decide

    The result appears immediately at the workstation: OK or not OK.

    Document

    The inspection is recorded with its characteristics and stays traceable.

At the workstation

The manual inspection station.

The operator places the product in the defined inspection area. VIC captures the image, evaluates the characteristics, shows the result immediately and records the process. If something deviates, the affected characteristic is highlighted – the operator sees straight away what it is about.

Inspection programs

Every product brings its own inspection criteria.

An inspection program is stored for each article. When it is opened, VIC knows which characteristics have to be checked for this product – and how many. That is what keeps the solution open across industries.

Cable assembly: one harness, many characteristics.

A good example of what VIC can do – and one of many possible fields of use. What can be secured on a wiring harness can equally be secured on other assemblies.

    Seal present, correctly positioned, in the right place, no obvious damage.

    Sealing elements present and correctly inserted.
