Inventory management for manufacturers

It connects purchasing, sales and stock through one continuous document chain. In POM Warenwirtschaft every document is created from the previous one – quote, order confirmation, delivery note, invoice – and lines, prices and tax codes carry over. Purchasing covers requests for quotation, order proposals, purchase orders and blanket orders; stock covers stock keeping, stocktaking counts, availability checks and reorder point proposals. Every line knows its preceding document.

Stock and production run on the same database in POM. When an order is reported as finished, POM books the finished article in with the good quantity and books the components out according to the bill of materials. Open orders reserve what their bill of materials needs, so the stock list shows reserved and free quantities. The delivery note books the goods out – with no retyping between two systems.

In incoming invoices, POM matches each invoice: with 2-way matching against the purchase order, with 3-way matching against the goods receipt as well. Prices are compared with the purchase order, quantities with what was actually delivered – across partial deliveries and partial invoices too. You set tolerances and a second approval above a certain amount as business rules.

POM always keeps its own stock; a second system acting as the leading inventory is not intended. Existing systems can still be connected: with POM Integration you bring in orders, customers and bills of materials, and POM reports stock movements, scrap and rework to an external system, as far as that system accepts them.
